About Coaching You know how people can strive all their life to do everything right and find that they're still not happy? I help people to pause, listen within, find their happiness and then continue on their way. When you think about it, everything we do in life is motivated by a desire for greater happiness. There are many reasons why people come to coaching. I have a client who is nearing fifty and still wants to parent a child. Another client is reentering the work force now that her son is in college. I helped my first client renew her confidence and find a job after getting fired. People decide whether to move or change careers with the help of coaching. Many clients want to find love or reignite their love after years of marriage. And some want help deciding whether or not to stay in their relationships. Money is a big topic - how to make more of it and how to spend and save wisely. And almost everyone wants more time; they want to find a balance between work and home that feels satisfying and sane. People want to feel more fulfilled in their work and do something that’s meaningful and gives back. Our conversations can become spiritual or transformational when clients want to feel connected to the sacred. Many people are searching for a way to personally express their faith or looking for a spiritual home that fits their beliefs. I am honored to share any part of my clients’ life journeys, whether our time together is a few sessions or longer. My favorite quote about coaching is "comfortably bringing very important people from where they are to where they want to be." Insoo Kim Berg said that in Brief Coaching for Lasting Solutions, and she was using the metaphor of a stage coach, perhaps where the term coaching was coined. My favorite method of helping people reach happiness in coaching is through the philosophies of Abraham-Hicks, which I read in a book called Ask and It is Given. The book isn't for everyone, but the teachings are timeless, and I'm happy to distill them into user friendly terms. They show us how to get from where we are to where we want to go by listening to and trusting our inner selves. My favorite thing to do in life is to help people shift internally and then move forward. I love people, and I love having inspiring conversations with them. Coaching is conversations that uplift people and celebrate their resourcefulness. I find that when we are inspired, it is easy to take action. It is so gratifying to watch people realize what's possible and what they're capable of putting into motion. It's humbling to hear their gratitude, as if I'm the one who did it...when really, I was just listening closely, sharing my thoughts and impressions and cheering them on from the sidelines. Coaches serve as catalysts. Coaching is very efficient because the conversations are focused and are usually done over the phone. You can live across the country from your coach and talk for a half hour during your lunch break or at home in your sweats!
